This liberal arts degree provides a well-rounded education with a focus on foundational studies in music. Students explore the fundamentals of music theory and history, engage in applied study and ensemble performance, and draw from a diverse and rich curriculum offered across the University. Offering the most flexibility of the music degrees, this program can enhance creative thinking, problem solving, and collaboration and can be paired as a dual-major with other disciplines such as STEM fields.

- Graduate study in other fields (such as medical, law, the humanities)

This professional degree is designed for students pursuing teaching careers in the K-12 schools. Students enrolled in this program grow skills and knowledge in music and performance and are equipped to serve as effective teachers across multiple disciplines. The coursework is taught by experienced practitioners and an emphasis is placed on personal attention and regular immersion in K-12 schools. The program boasts a 100 percent placement rate for all graduates who seek teaching positions.

This professional degree is designed for students pursuing careers in music performance. Students enrolled in this program grow skills and knowledge in music with an emphasis on applied study and solo and ensemble performance. This course of study can enhance creative thinking, problem solving, and collaboration and can be paired as a dual-major with other disciplines such as STEM fields.

This program provides opportunities for students in majors from other disciplines to develop an appreciation for diverse music genres, to be exposed to music theory and history, and to experience solo and ensemble performance. The Music Minor track explores the fundamentals of music while the Music Industry Minor track explores the fundamentals of sound recording techniques within our world-class recording facilities. What will I learn in a music degree program?
The Department of Music at the 夜色视频 provides education in the history, performance, theory and pedagogy of music. A degree in music will provide students the skills and knowledge to successfully contribute as music performers, scholars and educators.
Music students may learn brass, woodwind, percussion, voice, piano, strings, or guitar. In fundamentals and theory classes, they learn to write and understand music; in methods courses, they learn how to teach music. Music students may participate in one or more of the School of the Arts’ performance organizations. Solo performances in class and in public are also encouraged. In addition, in order to fulfill degree requirements, students are required to participate in one major instrumental ensemble.

The Department of Music in the School of the Arts provides students the opportunity to participate in over 25 extraordinary ensembles including band, jazz ensemble, orchestra and voice ensemble.
In addition, the department provides a line-up of amazing guest performers and special events each year such as the Performing Arts Series and the Reno Jazz Festival to provide students with even more opportunity to immerse in music and learn from professional performing artists.
The University Arts Building presents one of the finest acoustic environments for practice, rehearsal and performance in the United States. The building features acoustically tuned practice rooms, large ensemble rehearsal spaces, state-of-the-art recording and electroacoustic compositions labs and the magnificent 280-seat Harlan O. & Barbara R. Hall Recital Hall. Along with the venerable Nightingale Concert Hall and additional teaching spaces in the Church Fine Arts Building, Nevada provides the perfect place to learn, grow and perform.
