What will I learn in a PackTeach political science degree program?
Students who complete this PackTeach Program will earn two degrees: the Bachelor of Arts in Education/Secondary Education and the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. The PackTeach program provides students with a broad background in political science and then they take courses specifically designed to help them become secondary teachers. Students who successfully complete the program are prepared to teach in secondary education, graduate school, or an immediate career in a professional field. This dual degree program supports the commitment of the University of Nevada Reno to provide our communities with highly qualified, diverse professional educators.

The Political Science Bachelor of Arts degree program emphasizes research and teaching that links theory with real-world issues and action through politics, public policy, and public administration. Political science encompasses the "political"—issues, institutions, behavior, power and public resources.
The major prepares you for careers that demand critical and innovative thinking, evidentiary synthesis and analysis, and reading, writing, and speaking about complex organizational and public matters. These skills and knowledge will enable you to go on to be successful in any of a number of fields: law, political campaigns and lobbying, governmental and non-governmental organizations, media, business, the military, secondary education, and social and political movements.
