Healthy Home Life

Healthy Home Life (HHL) is a state grant-funded project supported by the Children's Trust Fund for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect. The mission of Healthy Home Life (HHL) is to help improve the quality of life of children and families by helping families and caregivers learn to utilize preventative strategies to create more nurturing, positive home environments. HHL offers training directly to communities with historically limited access to services in our rural and frontier areas.

Home Help Line (HHL) offers a 3-part workshop series of parent education classes, designed to help families build positive, nurturing relationships with their children and teach them appropriate behavior. Each 2-hour class begins with a discussion of feedback, reflections, and experiences from participants on applying the training content from the previous week. One widely recognized publication on PBS strategies is The Power of Positive Parenting: A Wonderful Way to Raise Children (1994) by Glenn Latham. The HHL curriculum incorporates this book, along with a wide range of published evidence-based practices in positive behavior support (PBS), to provide parents and caregivers with strategies to help their children engage in more appropriate behaviors and fewer challenging behaviors through PBS techniques, prevention strategies, teaching replacement behaviors, and reinforcing positive actions.
