Ira Gostin is the marketing strategist in residence for the University’s Innevation Center and interim president & CEO for NCET: Business. Technology. Events.

I am on my second year as the marketing strategist in residence at the Innevation Center. My role is unique as I currently wear a few different hats. I’m also the interim president with NCET, a resident organization at the center.

My 'day job' I am an advisor to CEOs in the mining sector, relating to investor relations, marketing and financial communications. For the past 10 years, I have worked with a variety of companies in the Innevation Center, helping them to better tell their brand story and create effective marketing strategies. Additionally, I have worked with the management team of the Center to help connect the Innevation Center to our Reno startup community.

"I am so proud of the team here, whether it is the paid staff or student volunteers. The energy, excitement and passion for what is done here is electric and I cherish my opportunities to be a part of it."

Last year, I completed a Fellowship in Neuroscience for Business at the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. While I have a great home office, it was amazing to just change my scenery and come to the center to write papers or study.

I have had the opportunity to mentor founders, lead discussions with foreign dignitaries and be a part of the first Reno Startup Week, which was headquartered here. Those experiences built relationships that I still have today.

When I took over as the president of NCET in May of this year, the first thing I did was move NCET’s headquarters to the Innevation Center. We hold our monthly board meetings here, have committee meetings and meet with vendors and sponsors. It just makes sense for the organization to be operating here on so many levels.

The Innevation Center will continue to be the nexus of the innovation, entrepreneurial, startup and tech community in Reno and I can’t be more excited about the next 10 years! Happy Anniversary, ҹɫÊÓƵ Innevation Center!
