The College of Engineering has released its strategic plan for 2026-2031, “Dream Boldly. Engineer What’s Next.” View and download the document on Nevada Engineering’s strategic plan webpage

The plan outlines how the College will achieve its vision of becoming a leader in creating economic opportunity and transformation; preparing graduates with distinctive, career-ready experiences; and translating research into solutions that benefit Nevada and beyond.

This strategic plan is the culmination of a process that began in fall 2025 involving task forces and committees focused on student success, community engagement, research and innovation, and regional economic development. More than 1,000 stakeholders were involved in developing the plan and its strategies.

“Together, we have established an ambitious vision for how Nevada Engineering will drive opportunity, innovation and growth over the next five years,” Engineering Dean Tom Weller said. “This strategic plan reflects the collective vision and commitment of our students, faculty, staff, alumni and industry partners.”

Throughout the past year, the College reported its progress on the plan through its quarterly newsletter, Engineering in the News, and videos on its YouTube channel.

The new plan coincides with the current reorganization of the College into three “schools” from its previous five departments. Expected to be completed this fall, the reorganization is designed to further the goals of the strategic plan.
