The Third Annual Nevada Football vs. The Law All-Stars Charity Softball Game and Battle of the Badges Charity Softball Tournament will take place Saturday, June 13, at Don Weir Field in Peccole Park.
This free, family-friendly event will bring together first responders, student-athletes and the Northern Nevada community for a full day of softball, fun and fundraising in support of two impactful organizations: Northern Nevada Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) and Northern Nevada Trauma Intervention Program.
The event will feature an all-day Battle of the Badges softball tournament between local law enforcement agencies beginning at 7 a.m. and culminating in a special marquee matchup between Nevada Football and the Northern Nevada Law Enforcement “The Law” All-Stars at 6:30 p.m.
“This event will showcase the very best of Northern Nevada through teamwork, service and community. We are proud to stand alongside our hometown team, Nevada Wolf Pack Football and our regional public safety partners for a day of friendly competition to support incredible local nonprofits, Northern Nevada COPS and the Northern Nevada Trauma Intervention Program. From the Battle of the Badges to our matchup with Nevada Football, this event is all about bringing people together and having fun while giving back to our community. Our team is ready to defend the title and we look forward to seeing the stands filled with community members, families and Wolf Pack fans,” said Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam.
Admission to the event is free, and donations to support Northern Nevada C.O.P.S. and the Northern Nevada Trauma Intervention Program will be accepted at Peccole Park. Along with the softball tournament and the marquee matchup in the evening, the event will include raffle prizes and a silent auction, static displays and family-friendly activities, a specialty concessions menu by Sodexo and a Home Run Derby with Empire Cat.
"We are excited for the third year of this annual event that brings our program and the first-responder community together to support Northern Nevada Concerns of Police Survivors and Northern Nevada Trauma Intervention Program. The new format, combined with hosting here at Peccole Park, offers a full day of action and entertainment for our community. Nevada Football looks forward to hosting and participating in this meaningful event," said Nevada Football Head Coach Jeff Choate.
Participating law enforcement agencies are scheduled to include: Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department, Nevada State Police, University Police Department – Northern Command, and Nevada Department of Wildlife. The law enforcement all-stars won last year's meeting, evening the series at one apiece.
