On March 13, the 夜色视频 undergraduate club, Wolf Pack Miracle Network (WPMN), was awarded the 2025 Highest Fundraising Program award by the Renown Health Foundation at their inaugural Children’s Miracle Network All Partner Kickoff event. After a year of rebuilding, the organization was able to raise $18,054.23 for Renown Children’s Hospital.

Behind the curtain of CMN fundraising programs

Renown Children’s Hospital is a Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospital, which means they are supported by CMN fundraising programs and partners, including Miracle Network Dance Marathon. This is a student-led fundraising program that has hundreds of chapters nationally across K-12 and higher education, including Wolf Pack Miracle Network.

These programs fundraise all year to support varying projects in children’s hospitals across the country.

“Supporting Children’s Miracle Network is important because it gives hospitals the flexibility to invest in what their community needs most,” said National Campus Programs Manager for Children’s Miracle Network, Seth Hajzus.

“The funds raised are undesignated, meaning the hospital can support programs and areas of the hospital that may lack funding, but improve the quality of care that patients receive,” Hajzus said.

The funds raised by programs like WPMN stay with their local children’s hospitals.

“Supporting Children’s Miracle Network means supporting local kids. As a nonprofit hospital, we rely on community donations to provide the highest quality care for every child,” Chase Beeby, development specialist for Children’s Miracle Network at Renown Health Foundation, said.

Wolf Pack Miracle Network student leaders work throughout the year to improve the lives of those in the Reno community.

“The purpose of Wolf Pack Miracle Network is to make a difference in our community and make excellent healthcare for kids a given, not just a vision,” said Reagan Curtis, a sophomore majoring in business administration and president of Wolf Pack Miracle Network.

This dedication to children’s healthcare is what drives the students to continue the organization year after year.

“I chose to volunteer for Wolf Pack Miracle Network to give back to others and make the change I want to see happen in my community. I want to make a difference not only on campus, but in local children's lives,” Curtis said.

“WPMN’s work is an incredible testament to the passion these students have for service and philanthropy,” added Hajzus. “I am thrilled to see more students every year at the 夜色视频 get excited to give back to their local hospital.”

Impacts of student organization involvement

Being a part of a student organization like WPMN is also an outlet for students to build friendships and grow their professional skills.

Speaking from both her experience working at a hospital foundation as well as being a former student leader in a Miracle Network program, Beeby said, “Getting involved helps students find connection and be part of something bigger than themselves, while making a real difference on campus and in the community.”

Involvement in student organizations can contribute positively to a student’s experience while in college and beyond.

“Engaging students on campus provides an enriching collegiate experience for them to learn, grow, and succeed,” Valerie Milanes, advisor for WPMN and coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Life at the University, said.

“More than this, engaging students in philanthropic groups instills a sense of service and the value of giving back for years to come, even after college,” she said.

Similarly, Hajzus said student organizations contribute to a student’s leadership skills by “allow[ing] student leaders to apply the hard and soft skills they learn in the classroom to work beyond the classroom.”

Recognizing student achievements

Winning the 2025 Program of the Year award is a testament to the impact of the work WPMN executed over the last year to support local families.

“This award means everything to our program. After a complete restructuring in 2025, it is so fulfilling to receive this award and know the hard work we have done has truly made a difference in the lives of my community,” Curtis said.

“I am incredibly thrilled that the WPMN is recognized for the work that they do! These students are true advocates for others and altruistic leaders looking to make a better world around them,” added Milanes. “They worked incredibly hard this past year and are ramping up for events this year as well. Their dedication to engaging events, while making a difference, is inspiring.”

Student organization leaders are creating positive change in their communities, inspiring others to do the same.

“My experience at the University has been nothing short of rewarding, as being a student here has provided me with countless opportunities to put my passion for serving others into action,” Curtis said. “I am beyond grateful to be a part of such an amazing campus community, especially an organization like Wolf Pack Miracle Network that prides itself on giving back.”
