Indigenous Student Services
The Indigenous Student Services program at the Multicultural Center is dedicated to supporting the academic, cultural, and personal success of Indigenous students. Rooted in the values of community, belonging, and resilience, our goal is to foster a supportive environment where Indigenous students feel seen, heard, and empowered.
Through culturally grounded programming, mentorship, and advocacy, we strive to build a strong sense of community that affirms Indigenous identities and promotes holistic well-being. Our services are designed to enhance student retention and ensure graduation success by connecting students to resources, peer networks, and opportunities that reflect and respect their cultural heritage.
We are committed to honoring Indigenous ways of knowing while helping students navigate the university experience with confidence and pride.
What we do
Indigenous Student Outreach & Engagement
Our Indigenous Student Services team is committed to supporting Native students and communities through culturally grounded outreach and engagement efforts. We work to create meaningful pathways into higher education and provide support every step of the way.
- Facilitating Student Engagement: Coordinate workshops and share resources that connect Indigenous students to campus life, cultural events, and student organizations, fostering a sense of belonging and active participation.
- Admissions & Financial Aid Support: Lead information sessions and offer individualized guidance on college admissions, scholarships, financial aid, and the Nevada Native American Fee Waiver to prospective students and their families, helping them navigate the path to higher education.
- Holistic Student Support: Provide one-on-one non-academic advising and culturally responsive support, including referrals to on-campus and off-campus resources that promote student well-being and success.
- College Access Programming: Organize and host campus tours and outreach events designed specifically for Indigenous prospective students, offering insight into college life and building early connections to the institution.
- Living Learning Community Collaboration: Offer ongoing guidance and culturally relevant resources to Residential Life in support of the Indigenous Living Learning Community (LLC), helping create a welcoming residential environment.
- Club and Organization Advising: Support and advise Indigenous student clubs and organizations, promoting leadership development, cultural expression, and community-building opportunities.
